A pregnant Indian woman, who along with her husband was stuck in Bangladesh due to the COVID-19 lockdown, returned to her hometown in Tripura with the couple’s one-month-old child.

Residents of Unokoti district- Jamila Khatun along with her husband Mofiz Ali and their child went to Srimangal in Bangladesh on February 5.

However, due to the lockdown called to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, they were stranded in Bangladesh.

She was pregnant during the time of their visit to Bangladesh and could return to India at the time of delivery due to the lockdown.

She was admitted to Majumdar Nursing Home in Srimangal where she gave birth to the second child on May 18.

The couple on their return to India thanked the Bangladesh government and the Indian High Commission for the help and support they received during the delivery of the child.

The newborn has been named Mahbub Abir.
